The mumps in Japanese is?

otafuku Ahhh, I needed to walk around the office often in the afternoon; too sleepy because of staying up late to see the Olympics. In Japan, many of the live programming starts after midnight. I went to bed at 3am last night. :-x At my job some of my co-workers are getting colds. Hmm they are using the Air Conditioner too much while they are watching Olympic maybe.

FYI, cold is written Kaze in Japanese. Kaze also means wind. Wind is written like this in Chinese charactors. Cold is also 風邪 expressed as bad wind. Complicated?

We call mumps Otafuku kaze. Maybe we name it Kaze (cold) because of its epidemicity. Then what is Otafuku? Otafuku are those fun, fat faced masks from Japanese folk plays. Our face is all puffed up like those masks when we have mumps. Funny name for a sickness. This bean is named Otafuku mame(bean) because of its shape too. Pretty bean.
