Hi there
Oh I made you confused, sorry for that. many people use Otaku for animation fan, Gundam fan, Akiba people. and sometime I also use the Otaku word easily. But real Otaku is meister of something. So Otaku < Akibakei. Some of Akibakei would be called Otaku, if they have some deep and huge knowledge for something.

Watashi is a word means "I", guys and women both can use it, but when guys use it, it sound polite. Usually guys use ORE or BOKU in casual conversation. Only women use Atashi, it's a spoken word for women.

Hello Mari,

I was wondering: Is it true that 'atashi' is generally used only by young women? I suppose it would be highly unusual for a male to say 'atashi'.

Thank you.

I'm a little confused about your comments on otaku. From your earlier diary entry, it would seem that akiba-kei are a subcategory of otaku. If that's the case, then perhaps you mean to say that you like some types of otaku and not others.

Also, while I'm sure it's not an original observation, your description of otaku suggests they suffer from Asperger's Syndrome.
