The NYPD doesn't care who you are. This isn't 1975 - you write graffiti in the NYC subway, especially in one of the busiest stations in Manhattan, and you will get caught.

It would be like some artist from New York going to Tokyo and thinking he could get away with tagging the Tokyo subway just because he's "internationally known". It doesn't make any difference, the law is the law and the locals won't put up with it.
