I love to play cards. I wish I could play cards with my friends sometimes on
the weekend, but it's hard to find card fans around me! My favorite card game
is Daihinmin
(Rich Man Poor Man), and you can play it on the Internet here. Try it.
I was surprised to see this because I thought it was a new type of creature, but it's just a poor hairless bear... He would love this bear sleeping bag.
I often read that this country doesn’t make people rich or happy at all, this is a good article by Asahi: "The poverty rate in Japan."
Koakuma Ageha is a magazine for bar hostess type girls.
Generally, they wear dresses and have big "mori" hair like
this. And this month, Ageha recommends a new type of hairstyle that
features big hearts made of braids. Really, are they serious? Insane...
Ahhh… I was hooked on this strawberry ice cream bar that looks so gorgeous! It's a special
available at "Circle K," a convenience store. In winter, expensive,
high quality ice creams sell better than in the summertime. Actually, I tend to
choose creamier, heavier ice creams in winter when I crave flavor, not the
chill. My favorite three ice creams in the supermarket are: Yukimi
Daifuku, Choco-flake bitter and Choco-Zaku (chocolate with crunchies in a puffed rice shell).
I love this mochi ice cream with red bean one too.

Where do I find these ice cream bars?

That's one sad bear.. really sad bear =(
Middle class going away? Can't argue with that. With more and more of our salary goes to insurance (why do we even have this? so dumb), inflated goods like house/condo or what have you.. and less going to our wallet (without any improvement in wages 'cos "recession") .. like it or not, most people ARE going to poverty without they realizing it.
No, Mari, you guys are great in reconstruction.. its the status quo mentality that gets the worse of us all. We are content in what we have without realizing that what we have now will not be enough in the future. Some are content with 44k/year. But guess what, that maybe the poverty line in 10 years.. *sigh*
So in sum, only two things can happen. Pull those who have absurd amount of money to middle class level (like sweden and norwegia) or push the middle class to poverty level while rich people benefiting from our desperation for food, shelter, etc (like america). FYI, "socialist" norway and sweden has around 6% poverty rate and usa around 13%.. you decide.

Yes, reconstruction is the most difficult thing for Japanese. We are not good at it all.

hi mari,
thank you for showing us the article on "poverty" in japan. it was very interesting.
i agree with the article, and that people should be treated with dignity and respect for their hard work. The employment system can only work if it is made ready for "constant risk". It has to adapt to reality, now and in the future.
afterall, the reality (or situation) always changes.
if a system is not flexible, then it will eventually break. I think people in japan already know this, but it will take time to reconstruct.
