An interesting project is going on in Tokyo now. It is called Oedo Uchimizu Daisakusen(JP). We Japanease had a custom of sprinking water, with a ladle, on streets and in gardens, at house entrances, in front of shops to keep the dust down and ease down the heat, especially in the very hot summer time in Japan, here is an example. Here is a web page from last year right here. I like this idea very much!
Recently, I become tired in summer time, because my workplace is tooooo cold because of AC and outside is toooo hot because of the impact of urban lsland heat. So this summer, I will try an old Japanese customs; uchimizu, pyrethrum coils, and Furin(JP). Please listen to the sound of Furin . An old natural idea for cooling down. Now, this seems to be a very nice and cool way for me.
To keep cool here in the desert, we mostly have air conditioning, ceiling fans, and swimming pools. People tend to stay indoors and in the shade. Some restaurants and cafes have misting systems outside on their patios that spray fine sprays of water into the air as well.
