How did you spend the New Year holiday? Until tomorrow maybe people will be returning to Tokyo from their parents homes or their hometowns. The Highways have become a kind of long parking lot :-p. When I watch the news, I am glad to have been born in Tokyo. I do not need to KISEI, or go back to a hometown and return to Tokyo.
Anyway I went to Kawagoe today, it is the small city called a little EDO. It takes about only 40 minutes or so from Shinjuku, the Center of Tokyo. Then you can sense as if you got a short trip. They have a street where you can enjoy many old warehouses (kura), and a small alley where they sell old-fashioned Japanese junk sweets.
And Kawagoe is famous for sweet potatoes, so you may try some sweet potato treats. I ate omanjyu, that’s cut potatoes! No sugar and no butter just cut potato but sweet enough and delicious! Sweet potetos Yokan (Sweet potato paste) would be nice too.
I must go there when I'm in Tokyo (hopefully this April).
Somehow Japanese sweet potatoes are the sweetest !

いもよかんといもきんが似ているですか。I had never seen "imokin" before, but had it at the Shinnosai matsuri in Osaka in November. 本当においしかったです。

That looks neat! Next time I'm in Tokyo, I'll try to visit.
It's funny how the cheapest way there is the fastest.
