No matter how many times I see this, I am amazed. Did I link this before? . Our brain and eyes are very interesting.this picture, it looks like a diorama? But it is not a diorama, it's the real Tokyo. That is not because of sensory errors, it's from camera lens magic. He said he can take such diorama type photos with CANON TS-E. Here are other photos that look very cute. He took more such experimental photos: here are long-exposure photos. Moving things have disappeared. Here are High Dynamic Range Photos. I wonder if we remember things and places like that photo. (this is the page of HDR in wiki.)

I think the rainy season has finished in Tokyo today. Finally I can see clear blue sky but it's too hot outside. This morning, the train was a little bit less crowded than usual because summer holidays have started in school until the end of August. How about me? Here is the list of average summer holidays for workers. Australia 1.5month, Spain 1month, Sweden 25-32days, France 5weeks, Poland 46days, Germany 33days, Italy 32days, Norway 25days. Are these paid days-off or not paid? My summer vacation is paid, but guess what, it's only 5day. Actually, the average of Japan is 5 days!!! Booooooooooooooooooooooo. How long can you take it?
Last December I went to Universal Studios in CA, but it was not a great place for me (or I am too old to enjoy it or I am difficult to entertain). I have never been to Universal Studios Japan, they have some different attractions from the U.S. On the net, this became a topic: "The Real One Piece Show." Most comments complain, but I think they did a good job, at least on the poster. Talking about modifying, this one is interesting: modified Peanuts guys. I thought someone Japanese drew them, but it seems to be an American guy.
These look great! I recently read a recipe in Bon Appetit that added a huge pat of butter to the inside of a burger! I'm glad to see something that doesn't rely on so much fat for flavor, haha.

The numbers for the other countries are paid vacation days in total (besides national holidays and weekends, but some of them seem to include national holidays), not only summer vacation. To compare it to Japan, you would have to add your 12 - x days of regular paid vacation plus additional vacation like new years, Golden Week, etc. which other countries don't have. I think this brings up the number of your paid vacation days to about 25, which isn't so bad, is it. :-)

The "new" Peanuts characters -
I HATE 'EM!
Lucy with boobs?!?! Noooooo! That's worse than the Looney Toons characters and the Flintstones as babies!! (done in the late '80's - early 90's - uber annoying!) The Peanuts gang are supposed to be forever in the third grade!!!
Now, Scobby Doo "anime-ted" might be kinda cool...or Johny Quest...but I think Sparky Shultz is spinning in his grave! (@-@)

I need a vacation soooo bad, but I think The US and Japan have the least worker-friendly vacation policies in the world!
I earn PTO (paid time off) and can use it whenver I want or need to and for any circumstances, but I get no paid holidays (like Christmas, New year) or summer vacation. Where I work, if an employee has no PTO hours earned, they can't take any vacation at all! If you get sick, the company uses your PTO. If you use up all of your PTO becasue of a long illness, you may still keep you job (if you signed up for long-term illness coverage) and are allowed the time off from work to recover but without pay!
And I work for a hospital!
It sucks man!!!

I went to Universal Studios 20 years ago. Apparently it hasn't gotten any better. I'm glad my wife talked me out of going back there a few years ago.
As for "The Real One Piece Show," I am amazed that they actually did this. It seems as though "One Piece" would be a very difficult anime to recreate as live action. How do they handle the main character's ability to stretch like rubber, I wonder.
The Peanuts characters redrawn in anime style are interesting, but Charlie Brown looks very bald and angry now. I never thought of his previous version as an angry person. It would be interesting to see actual stories with these new versions.

Normal work offers 2-3 weeks paid vacation. But not a "summer vacation." You only get 5 days, BUT you get sweet holidays - like golden week?! We get bad holidays, only 5, i think... :( unless you're a banker... or a teacher, then you're in luck!

I think it must be school holidays. In Australia, summer holidays for government schools is about 1.5 months.
Don't worry if you do not like Universal Studios. At least you tried it to find out. Wow... it is 10 years since I went there...

You mean school holidays or work holidays? Here in Estonia, where I live, pupils rest for 3 months:)
