Today's crazy news from the U.S: Idaho man sees 666 is the number of the beast ( I have never watched Omen, impossible for me). In Japan, people don't like "4", because 4 is read "shi" (or yon ) and "shi" sounds like "death" in other Kanji. We think the number 8 is a lucky number, because 8 is written 八 in Kanji. The shape of this kanji broadens toward the end. It means we can have a good result, end, future for us. Chinese people love 8 too and I heard the car license 8888 is traded at an incredible expensive price.

I checked chaku wiki today. I love the site, I like to read each local legend or native masochistic information. For example, on the Tokyo page, someone writes about Tokyo castes. In Tokyo there are 23 wards and some cities but Tokyo people don't think those cities belong to Tokyo. For example, Machida is a city of Tokyo but since Machida is surrounded by Kanagawa pref, people don't admit it's Tokyo. And also even in 23 wards, there is a rank. The ward which is next to Saitama or Chiba pref can't be thought of as Tokyo.

But on the other hand, it is fun to read about Japan in other languages, because I can know foreign people's image and misunderstandings about Japan. Here is the English Japan page. Hmm, foreign people seem to have an image of Ninjya so far.

This is the Texas page in English and checked native people image for that area. Ha ha ha, it's Jesus Land! (Don't ask me why I picked Texas, he he. Beans love

Are there any sumo fans? I have two SUMO BANZUKE (paper sheets). Onehas three Hawaiian wrestlers, AKEBONO, KONISHIKI, MUSASHIMARU, at thetop. The other is an old one, more than 20 years. I tried to sellthem at auction, but nobody bid on them. So, I will give them to aforeign SUMO fan. If you would like them, tell me, and show me howmuch you like sumo by mail :-)

I am reading the manga FUSHIGINA SHONEN (Wonder Boy), by Kazumi Yamashita. I'm not sure if it's being published in foreign countries,but if you find it in the book store, try it. It's very nice.

This monster is a parody of "KANEGON" which appeared on "Ultra Q."Kanegon loves money and eats money for food. Maybe that bean monsterloves Dorayaki because his face looks like it. Dorayaki is atraditional Japanese sweet, in which ANKO (sweet red beans) issandwiched between pancakes. Doraemon's name came from Dorayaki too,because that cat robot loves Dorayaki.(Cute real doraemon!)

You can check out their other art at this official site. I thought the artists would be Japanese since AOI NEKO means"blue cat" in Japanese, but they seem to be American.

Iwate is a prefecture of Japan located in the North region, in winter time it's very cold. In February, they have an annual traditional festival "Somin sai", known as the naked festival to pray for the productiveness of grain. Wearing only fundoshi (Japanese traditional pants) or naked, guys clean their bodies in the river and after that they fight over a shrine charm. The festival is identifed as an intangible cultural heritage. Here is the good photos to know the festival. Every year, people can know the festival is coming by posters in town. BUT this year, JR stations took down the posters and refused to put them up in the station again, because some women claim "that's KIMOCHIWARUI!!" Here it is. Hmm, in Japanese KIMOCHIWARUI means, disgusting, gross, scungey, sick, yacky, you know perfect deny. I won't say that poster looks beautiful or nice. But at least, it's our culture, so I hope women could show tolerance a little bit (it's not a guy, it's just a bear! I can think like that). And most of all, I hate JR's attitude. I couldn't understand why JR accepted such a silly claim. By the say, I like the guy's chest hair :-)

This is the music video of "ILL MACHINE(×ULTRA BRAiN)" by WAGDUG FUTURISTIC UNITY . The song was part of the soundtrack of the animation movie "EX MACHINA (APPLESEED SAGA)". EX MACHINA was released last autumn as the continuation of the story of APPLE SEED. Here is the official site and here is the long trailer. The interesting part was PRADA designed the costumes of characters. This time, boom boom satelite didn't join the music part.

Anyway, the video's theme is self-purification, a trash machine cleaning the planet 50 years in the future. Like I told you, I am in a little bit eco mode, (it's my mild way though). I found this great message on my friend Akiko's blog. I can't read that language (Swedish???), but it says "When the last tree falls, when the last fish is captured, finally people will know we can't eat money". I am impressed. I want to change my life and my way of living this year. I don't yet know how though! I am bored of staying in the same situation, same place.
