I am not sure if I can laugh this or not: "Science Vs. Religion"
Nifty Portal Z researched the Yamanote Line Kiosk's snack recommendations. Some shops recommend Glico's Okara Dakara. The cookie includes 32% Okara (soy pulp), so it's lower in calories and rich in fiber. You'd think it's bland, but I can tell that it's pretty good. By the way, Jagarico is a popular fried potato snack. I read that some people add hot water to it to make it soft and eat it like mashed potatoes. Another way is to eat it sprinkled on top of rice with mayo. I knew that some people add it to gratins or salad, but I didn't know that it works as instant mashed potatoes. That's a little bit weird.
As for new food buzz, a Rayu boom has come. We eat hot red oil with Gyoza (Chinese dumplings). Usually we just add a little, using it like Tabasco. But recently, Momoya released "Karasode karakunai sukoshi karai rayu" (looks too hot, but it's not too hot, a little bit hot rayu)... I know, it's a strange name... it's mild and contains savory ingredients like fried garlic, onion, almond, etc. so we can eat it on top of rice. It's been a big hit and actually, I have never seen it in stores because it's always sold out. Now, another big spice maker, SB, released a mild rayu "Bukkae Okazu Choikara Rayu" (a little bit hot rayu topping).
