Japanese beverage maker Suntory is selling Pepsi in Japan.They release "strange flavors" every year. It had started with "cucumber" pepsi in 2007, then "Blue Hawaii", "Shiso" (Perilla in Japanese), "Azuki" (red beans), and I remember we had "Yogurt". Now they are selling "baobab". Can you imagine the taste? They say it'spicy and fresh. Anyway Japan probe did good job for this topic :-) and Suntry is insane.

Super cheap izakaya in Tokyo

"Colors in Culture", it shows the meaning of color in each country and area. In Wetern/American, Japanse, European, African think angre is read but in Hindu, it's black. African and Soudh American people seem to set less color to feeling than wetern or Japanese.

Today I will go to Yakitori place Torikizoku, their yakitori is good, size is big and all menu is 280yen! And if you go there in more than 8 people, you can order Tabehodai(free foods) & Nomihodai (free drink) by 2800yen, it's so reasonable! Most of all, I can tell you their yakitori is really good. That's point, since Toyokizoku is chain store, you may find in youre area.

Like that, cheap price izakayas are incrasing since last year. Here are some chain shop you can find easily in Tokyo area.
Chu bo Happi : chain shop, all less than 399yen Izakaya, their main manu is Japanese fried chicken. I have never been there but I will one time, Good topic.
kin no kura / Thokenbunroku : chain shop, all 270yen Izakaya, some place has ordering system that you order on touch panel machine. Foods were so so, I recommend Edamame, it's a huge size.
Hanbei : chain shop, most menu is less than 100yen, wow I can't understand why they can make such cheap.

And now uniqe shop try their owun unique idea.
Kakumei(revolution) : an izakaya in Oyama, Itabashi ward. They have free shochu, you can drink shochu for free. You need to order two dishes only. And their menu are not expensive at all.

Seihin(poor) : You rent pot and buy ingredients, then you need to cook by yourself. If you have some good cook friend, this might interesting place.

Neon Genesis Evangelion's locations are set in the Hakone area. They made an Evangelion convenient store. The name of the shop is "Tokyo-3 city." By the way, we had a life size Gundam last year and now we have plans to build a real size Eva. We will have more details later.

I wrote this post last year: "guys start to cook lunch." It was influenced by the trend of "herbivore" men. But now regular men have begun to cook bento to save money on lunch. Nestle Japan opened Bento Boys Park, where you can upload your bento photos and people rate them and they rank the best ones. Look at No 1 guy's bento history, he has only two menu items: fried chicken and fried rice. What a tough bento!
 
As for the Shanghai World Expo, I read that people in China argued that the main Chinese pavilion is too similar to a Japanese pavilion designed by Tadao Ando from the Seville World Expo. I think that the shape is different but concept of "masu-gumi" design is really close. Personally I think this infraction is worse, look at their mascot! Is that Gumby?

Yes, do you remember this? A guy had to quit his job because he refused to do radio taiso.

Flutterscape is a site where people living in Japan can sell Japanese items to foreign people throughout the world. I didn't check it out, but it looks fun. The site opened in January this year and now they have over 2,500 items. Here is a news clip about the site, they said that O-bento boxes sold well with Europeans.
