Americans not hitting their walking. "Adults in western Australia average 9,695 steps a day. The Swiss followed with 9,650, while the Japanese clocked in with 7,168 steps. But Americans straggled far behind with just 5,117 steps." As a Japanese I am pretty shocked know too that we don't walk as mush as European or Australian, I though we walk more than European people. I want to know in which prefecture this research was done, cause in Tokyo area, it may happen, but local area people seem to walk more. Actually I did maybe less than 50 steps to the nearest station from home and walk less than 1000 if I don't exercise.
Here is another interesting research from UK. It's The largest ever global research project into people’s online activities and behaviour. According to the research the average of number of friends on social networking is 233 in Malaysia and they are number one, number 2 is Brazil and they have 231. The least country is Japan and we have about 29 only. Hmm we are such shy people, lol.
One more reserch! "The Global Gender Gap Report 2010" has released. "Nordic countries Iceland (1), Norway (2), Finland (3) and Sweden (4) continue to demonstrate the greatest equality between men and women according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2010." American is 19 and Canad is 20 and guess what! Japan is 94 and it's worse than Ghana!!! Wow I am living in such country? Fortunately I don't feel such gap in my life though, I realize this is rare case.
In Aomori pref, JR release edible train ticket, the ticket is their local special rice biscuit "nanbu senbei". They said after opening bag, it doesn't work as ticket anymore, so please enjoy after riding trains.
