Coupon sites have become very popular in Japan. Even though this year's New Year's holidays started with bad press about Groupon, I am enjoying the "coupon life" very much. Today, I went to a yakitori place using a coupon. I'll share with you what I ate tonight.
I got this coupon for 900yen (almost 9 dollars) on Groupon's Japan site. The shop is a yakitori place that is 5 station stops from my home.
Otoshi (table charge with appetizer) was giblet stew and they served a salad course of fresh cabbage with dressing.
Sashimi of chicken. Usually we don't eat raw chicken, but this shop can serve it because they are supplied with fresh raw meat that was cleaned earlier that day. I ate the chicken sashimi with wasabi and ginger, it was pretty good.
Then came yakitori, one is with salt and another is with sauce.
This is Tsukune (mince meat). They served it with a raw egg yolk and a rice ball. They recommend you eat the tsukune by dipping it in the egg and mixing it with rice. It was pretty good.
They served it with a raw egg yolk and a rice ball. and this was very acrid.
